Full description
This pottery workshop in Agadir lasts 1.5 hours and takes place in the studio of Moustapha, a potter with 20 years of experience, in the Bensergao neighborhood. In small groups of up to 10 people, you’ll shape three pieces on the potter’s wheel, which you can take home after they’re fired. Open to participants ages 8 and up and wheelchair-accessible; no experience required. Price: €35 per adult, €25 per child.
As soon as you step inside, the scent of damp clay greets you. Moustapha places a block of dense, red-ochre clay-extracted from the quarries of Agadir-on the wheel. The wheel spins, and your hands don’t yet know what they’re going to do. This isn’t a lecture: it’s a craftsman’s workshop where you take your place, the scent of clay in your nose and the dull hum of the wheel echoing around you.
“For years, we’ve been shaping clay as a family, with patience and passion. Today, thanks to Immersi Travel, we’re happy to open our workshop to share our techniques, our history, and a little of the soul of our craft.” - Moustapha, a potter in Agadir for 20 years.
On the agenda: 1.5 hours at the Agadir pottery workshop
The session follows the rhythm of the clay, not that of a watch. Moustapha adapts his guidance to your skill level, from basic techniques to full-scale shaping.
- Welcome with tea or coffee, introduction to the tools and clay (10 min)
- Introduction to the wheel with the artisan’s hands guiding yours (20 min)
- Shaping of your 3 pieces of your choice: bowl, cup, plate, candleholder, mini-tajine (50 min)
- Finishing touches, signing, and photos (10 min)
Clay and the potter’s wheel, two legacies of Agadir
The red-ochre clay comes from the quarries of Agadir. Its mineral content gives the fired pieces a warm color. Moustapha learned the craft from his father over 20 years ago in the Bensergao neighborhood. The foot-powered potter’s wheel he uses has almost disappeared in the region. It gives the pieces a delicacy not found with an electric wheel. This pottery workshop in Agadir remains one of the few opportunities to see this craft up close.
Who is this pottery workshop in Agadir for?
The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those who have already dabbled in ceramics. No physical fitness required. Open to children ages 8 and up when accompanied, or ages 12 and up on their own. The workshop is wheelchair accessible (ground floor). To explore other artisanal experiences, see the workshops and tours in Agadir.
Tip from the team
Wear clothes that can get dirty. Red clay stains fabric, even after washing. Plan to return 3 to 4 days later to pick up your pieces, or request shipping to be arranged with the workshop. If Moroccan crafts appeal to you, the custom leather sandal workshop offers another experience in Agadir.
Meet your artisan

Moustapha
Partner artisan20 years of experience
Moustapha learned pottery from his father in the Bensergao neighborhood of Agadir when he was just 12 years old. More than 20 years later, he is one of the few artisans who still master the traditional foot-powered potter’s wheel, a technique that has nearly disappeared in the region. Beyond his technical skill, his greatest strength is his teaching style: he guides beginners’ hands without ever doing the work for them. Both children and hesitant adults leave surprised that they managed to create three pieces in an hour and a half. He instills a passion for the craft before striving for perfection.

Friendly people, great energy, and a very professional organization. The poetry workshop was inspiring and thoughtfully led. A wonderful and enriching experience.
A wonderful experience at Zwenpoterie. It’s a really great idea to give people who’ve never tried it a chance to experience it, and to have real artisans teach us. It’s a time for sharing, focusing, and relaxing—and it’s incredibly satisfying! I highly recommend giving it a try. The team is lovely, too. I came back a second time so my little sister could try it, and it was fantastic again. Thank you so much And if you need your pieces shipped to France, for example, that’s possible and works very well—just don’t forget to factor in the drying and glazing time, which takes between 3 and 7 days. Start by making pottery during your stay, so you can arrive in Morocco looking your best 🥰
We had a great experience with Immersi Travel, we booked a pottery making course in Agadir for myself and my husband. The emails we received after booking were in French, but we used Google Translate to work out what the emails said in English. We found our way to the location provided in the email, and waited in the cafe area while we tried to work out exactly where we needed to go, but around 30mins before the class we were greeted in the cafe of Kassbat Souss by Mehdi, which was very helpful. Mehdi was so lovely and spoke good English and went above and beyond to make our experience as seamless as possible, helping us with transport, communicating with the people creating the pottery with us (since they did not speak English), and so much more! Mehdi left us during the pottery class, and although the guys in the workshop didn't speak English, we had a lot of fun with them and they were all so friendly, we got by just fine communicating with gestures and lots of giggles :) Mehdi kept in touch to help us to arrange the collection of the pottery 4 days later. It was a lovely experience and would happily recommend.
Today is my 60th Birthday and it was so lovely using a pottery wheel. It was a very authentic fun experience which my daughter booked for me. The staff were amazing, very friendly and respectful and we made 3 lovely items to take home in a few days time. Elite craftsmanship and a MUST DO in Agadir.
We booked a pottery class with a friend. We absolutely loved it! We each got to make three pieces, choosing the shape and color ourselves 🤩—it was such a great memory for us! I’ll be back with my family and more friends!
Very fun activity to do in agadir. Very friendly people and a fun experience where I learned a lot.
An incredible experience with the pottery class! The organization was top-notch. The potter was a great teacher and was so kind! The artisans’ skill is impressive! I highly recommend it for anyone looking to try something new!
Had a very fun and creative pottery class booked here, surely recommend! Kasbat Souss is a very lovely place to visit when in Agadir
I loved the pottery workshop! I got to make three pottery pieces. The staff was kind, friendly, and helpful. The kasbah is beautiful—there are so many incredible artists there. I’d definitely do it again!!!
We chose Immersi Travel to take a pottery class on the wheel. I’ll admit that I went along with my wife without much enthusiasm. But honestly, the organization and the kindness of the instructor and the organizer made it a truly incredible and unforgettable experience. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind experience you won’t want to miss. You’ll also have the chance to meet several artisans who create all sorts of things.
