Full description

Our Agadir Kasbah cooking class begins with the aroma of a simmering tagine, even before you step inside. No in-store demonstration. It’s a morning at Salma’s, in her traditional restaurant in the Kasbah Souss, at her own pace. Market visit, free choice of tagine, cooking together, tasting. All in 3 hours, including round-trip transportation from your hotel in Agadir.

On the agenda: 3 hours at our Agadir cooking class

No set menu. Each participant chooses the tagine they want to prepare: chicken with preserved lemons, lamb with prunes, kefta, or a vegetarian option. Salma guides you and adjusts the spices with you. She corrects your technique without judgment.

  • Pickup at your hotel in Agadir and drive to the Kasbah Souss
  • Mint tea and a presentation of the day’s menu with Salma
  • Visit to the local market to choose your ingredients together
  • Guided preparation of your tagine (peeling, cutting, measuring spices)
  • While the food is cooking: free time to explore the 70 artisan shops in the Kasbah
  • A convivial tasting of all the tagines, then return to the hotel

Kasbah Souss, an artisan village above Agadir

The restaurant is located in Kasbah Souss, 5 km above Agadir. Rebuilt in the style of a traditional Moroccan kasbah, the site features 70 artisan shops. You’ll find leather, argan products, spices, and pottery. While the tagines simmer for 45 to 60 minutes, you can browse without any pressure to buy. This Agadir cooking class is one of the few to include this relaxing break.

Who is this Agadir Kasbah cooking class for?

The class welcomes everyone: families, couples, friends, solo travelers, beginners, and enthusiasts alike. The restaurant can accommodate up to 20 participants. It’s also an ideal activity for groups looking to share a genuine experience. For smaller groups, the atmosphere remains intimate, and Salma tailors her guidance to each individual. To discover other local experiences, check out the workshops and tours in Agadir.

Tip from the team

Please mention any allergies or dietary restrictions when booking. Salma will happily adapt the recipes. Come in comfortable clothes and with an empty stomach. The portion of tagine at the end of the session is generous. If you’re passionate about Moroccan cuisine, the pottery workshop in Agadir offers another half-day artisanal experience.

The cooking workshop took place in a beautiful, cozy Berber kitchen in a kashbah in Agadir. Together with Abdullah we went to the local market to cook some of the products that I then bought together with Selma. She not only taught us how to make a delicious tagine, but also how to ferment citroenen with sugar. I can really recommend this workshop!

Salma was lovely and a great teacher. Abdul was very friendly and the whole experience was great. The tagines we made were delicious, finished off with an orange and some mint tea. Highly recommended.

We so enjoyed this cooking class. There were only 4 of us so it was really personable and the Dutch couple we were with were lovely. We began with an interesting shopping trip to the local souk to buy our ingredients, led by a very friendly lad (Abdullah?) who kept us involved and informed the whole time. We even got to choose our own ingredients. Back at the kitchen, which was clean and newly fitted, we all got involved with preparing the vegetables while our lovely chef told us all about the ingredients and Moroccan cookery. We then had a look around the small market while the tagines cooked. The food was delicious and the meal was served with bread, followed by mint tea and small biscuits. I'd highly recommend this class - a really lovely way to spend a day and feel more immersed in Moroccan culture 😊

De uitstap naar de markt was leerrijk en bracht ons naar het oorspronkelijke Agadir. De begeleider was zeer vriendelijk en gaf veel uitleg. Heel aangenaam!

Very nice activity. Buying ingredients at a local market was very pleasant. The private cous cous (2) with Selma went very well. We had a lot of fun and the result was delicious. We highly recommend it.

the cab pickup didn't work well we received an sms in English among many others which should have made us aware that the pickup instead of 9:30am was at 11:00am and we waited in the heights of the hotel trying to call the reference number but no answer then we had to wait on another group that arrived around 12:30pm but fortunately the cooking class made us forget quickly enough this long wait, which made us eat at 3:00pm but I repeat the cooking class was great good day
