Full description
The salty breeze of the Atlantic greets you the moment you set foot on the sand at Taghazout. Our coaches hand you your board and wetsuit, and the Taghazout surf lesson begins with a few minutes of warm-up on the beach before heading out into the water. No generic group: each participant works at their own level, from the first tentative pop-up on the foam to the maneuvers of a surfer looking to progress on the offshore waves.
Taghazout Surf Lesson Program: From the Sand to the Line-Up
The 4-hour format gives you plenty of time to find your footing without rushing. Our coaches watch your first take-offs from the shore, correct your footwork and posture, then send you out to work on reading the wave and positioning. The session is never the same depending on the day’s swell.
- Dry land warm-up: stance, arm movements, repeated pop-ups
- Entry into the water with close coaching and real-time corrections
- Debriefing between runs and tactical adjustments
- Snack break (salads, sandwiches, or pasta depending on the time)
- Back out to the waves to apply the adjustments from the debriefing
Taghazout Surf Lessons for Beginners or Advanced: Which Level Is Right for You?
Our local coaches surf these spots year-round and know every variation of the swell in Taghazout depending on the season. A complete beginner spends most of the session in the white foam to master the basic technique. An intermediate surfer works on shore break, reading the wave, and taking the wave. Equipment (appropriate board, leash, wetsuit) is provided: you arrive empty-handed.
How do I get to Taghazout for the surf lesson?
Taghazout is located about 20 minutes north of Agadir on the Atlantic coast. The meeting point is right on the beach, in front of the school. The lesson is taught in French, English, and Arabic. Knowing how to swim is the only prerequisite. To plan your trip, check out our guide to activities in Taghazout and the other sessions available on-site.
Tip from the team
Apply water-resistant sunscreen before entering the water: the Atlantic wind masks the sun’s heat, and sunburns can happen quickly. Bring a towel and a change of dry clothes. To round out your day in Taghazout, follow up with a quad bike tour in the hinterland: argan trees, a Berber farm, and views of the Atlantic await just a few kilometers from the waves.
