Full description

The Agadir sculpture workshop with Ali begins with words, not tools. The chisel bites into the stone with a sharp, precise sound. White dust settles on your hands. From start to finish, you are the one carving the piece. No rigid demonstration: three hours in the workshop, a maximum of three participants, and a sculptor who takes the time to explain the material before the techniques.

The structure of the Agadir sculpture workshop

Ali welcomes a maximum of three participants per session. Carving limestone requires concentration, not strength: the stone yields gradually under precise movements, and the blocks chosen are modest in size and easy to handle.

  • Welcome in the shop-showroom and presentation of Ali’s pieces
  • Choose your block of local limestone from a selection of textures
  • Demonstration of techniques: chisel, hammer, striking angle
  • Three hours of free carving, with Ali guiding you through each step
  • Final polishing and signing of your finished piece to take home

Local limestone and Ali’s expertise

Ali has been sculpting local limestone for over twelve years. This soft stone is carved with a chisel and hammer, and its surface retains the mark of every stroke. Ali first explains the material-its veins, its color variations, its reaction to the tool-before you lay your hands on it. Agadir sculpture, as he practices it, is both an artistic endeavor and a transmission of craftsmanship.

Agadir Sculpture: Who Is It For?

The workshop welcomes beginners as well as experienced hobbyists. It is wheelchair-accessible thanks to a ground-level entrance. The three-hour session is suitable for ages 12 and up. To combine this with another experience, see our activities in Agadir or our pottery workshop.

Tip from the team

Choose a simple design: an abstract shape, a letter, or a symbol. Three hours are enough to finish a clean piece, and Ali will guide you toward what is realistic within that time. Wear clothes that can get dirty: limestone dust stains fabric.

Partner artisan

Stonemason experience. If you have ever wanted to make something totally different, this is a must! Picked up from the hotel promptly. Taken to the stonemasons workshop. You said what you wanted to make, and you had a piece of sandstone... let your creative mind loose, the stonemason was very encouraging and always on hand to help and explain the process, its definitely hands on and very dusty. Would definitely come back again
